Ton Haas

Ton Haas (1954), designer. Ton Haas studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem and at the Kingston Polytechnic in London. He co-founded the Association for Designers (Vormgeversassociatie) in 1979 (later Ebbing Haas Industrial Designers) which, together with others, developed products under the brand name Designum. He joined the interdisciplinary design agency Landmark in 1987 before starting his own firm six years later. From 1990 to 1992, he was board member of KIO (Association of Industrial Designers). Haas was a guest lecturer at various departments, and as a designer he worked on a large number of different products, such as linoleum, hinges and locks, chairs, office furniture and glassware. He also worked on projects in Kenya, Brazil and Cuba, and he has designed innovative chairs under the brand name Harechair.
