Ed van Hinte

Ed van Hinte (1951), designer, author. Van Hinte studied industrial design at the Delft University of Technology and had his own design agency from 1981 to 1988. Since 1980, he was also active as a journalist and author, especially for the magazine Industrieel Ontwerpen (‘Industrial Design’), in which he wrote about new materials, the environment and other topics. In 1995, he co-founded Eternally Yours, a foundation aimed at prolonging the lifespan of products. Together with Adriaan Beukers, Van Hinte published the books Lightness (1997) and Flying Lightness (2005). In 2006, he founded the Lightness Studios foundation with the purpose of stimulating the development of lightweight constructions. Furthermore, he wrote and/or edited Eternally Yours, Time in Design, Superuse, among others, and monographs on Wim Rietveld, Richard Hutten and Ed Annink.
