Bas Pruyser

Bas Pruyser (1950), designer. Pruyser graduated with honours from the industrial design department of the Rietveld Academy in 1975 with a design for a sliding door cabinet for Ahrend. During his studies he received the Incentive Prize from the Amsterdam Council for the Arts for his design of a dustbin. From his graduation until 2012, he worked for Ahrend, for which he designed school and office furniture. In addition, he has his own design studio with his wife Ellen Oudshoorn since 1996. His designs have been produced in large numbers for decades due to their timeless appearance. He received the Kho Liang Ie prize for his design of the Capitole, the most commonly produced dustbin in the Netherlands.
